Company Overview

A brief history and how we work.

Hx Engineering, LLC (2019 overview) was founded in 1979 as Hx Computer Products, a part-time enterprise providing consulting and design services to OEMs and other users of embedded controls.

From 1980–1987 the company published and distributed HxDOS, an operating system for Ohio Scientific computers, alongside applications such as a word processor and compiler. Growing demand led to a full-time operation in 1992.

Today, full-time in-house capabilities are augmented by a network of consultants and subcontractors. This flexible, low-overhead model delivers cost-effective design and rapid response—covering everything from complete turnkey systems to quick-turn problem solving in existing equipment and designs.

Available talent spans software, communications, analog, digital, RF, and mechanical engineering for true end-to-end solutions. Clients range from startups to enterprises across Greater Cleveland/Akron, the U.S., and beyond; long-term relationships testify to quality and speed to market.

Past products span extremes: sub-microamp power budgets to hundreds of amps with high-speed switching; nano-volt measurements to hundreds of volts; milli-hertz to gigahertz; cubic millimeters to cubic meters; from sea level to the stratosphere and beyond.

Our approach emphasizes intelligent synergy between analog hardware, digital hardware, and firmware for the best price-performance. Projects include medical , short-range wireless , aerospace , and industrial products. The facility is partially powered by a 6.8 kW solar array of our own design.
